An explanation and remedy measures from our team.
Brook gives fans of the Neo Geo AES and Neo-Geo CD console a modern way to control its arcade classic games with the Super Converter: PS3/PS4 to Neo-Geo Adapter.
From 1991 to 2004, the SNK Neo-Geo presented some of the best arcade experiences available. The company uniquely positioned itself in the home console market with the AES, a console version of its arcade board, bring arcade-perfect experience at a time where other 16-bit consoles couldn't compare. For the few that could afford that experience, it was one to remember. Later, SNK introduced the Neo-Geo CD, attempting to lower the costs to own its library of games with CD technology.
Accessing a replacement controller or gamepad is a challenge, given the unique 15 pin configuration on the original controller. Additionally, Neo Geo's position in the market as a premium-cost machine did not see many 3rd party peripherals in its lifetime. That scarcity is remedied through Brook's Super Converter, which allows PS3 and PS4 Fightsticks and gamepads - both wired and wireless - to control the Neo-Geo AES or Neo-Geo CD.
The Neo-Geo adopted 3 types of button controls. "Type A" arranges the buttons to the orientation of Neo-Geo CD's gamepad. "Type B" comports to the popular "King of Fighters" series. Finally "Type-C" represents the classic Neo-Geo joystick.
Thanks to a downloadable v1.1 firmware update, the Brook Super Converter PS3/PS4 to Neo-Geo Adapter will default to the "Type C" control. You can easily switch to the remaining control types via pressing the "PS" button on the device, and a corresponding button on the Playstation 3 or 4 controller. You can find a link to download the firmware update by clicking the "Support" tab, or if on a mobile device, clicking here. Below is a diagram of the control types, plus the activation combo key:
The Brook Super Converter PS3/PS4 to Neo-Geo Adapter can interface with a wide variety of known first and third-party peripherals for the Playstation 3 and 4 console. Below is a list of tested controllers; this does not represent an exhaustive list, so if your controller is not mentioned here that does not mean it is not compatible, only that Brook did not have that controller to test:
The Brook Super Converter comes in its own professionally designed box. In the box is the device; paper instructions are also included in English and Taiwanese.

Firmware and Brook Device FAQPlease click here to access Brook's latest firmware for this device plus instructions to update the firmware (will open new window or tab). Keymap FunctionsPlease review Neo-Geo and PC corresponding keys when mapped to the Playstation 3 or Playstation 4 controller. ImportantEach Brook Controller Adapter can only handle one PS3/PS4 controller at a time. PS3/PS4 controllers connect to the Controller Adaptor automatically, but must be connected with a USB cable at first time use for the purpose of registering the controller.

The PS3/PS4 to NEOGEO Super Converter does what it says. : ) Like Brook's PS2 and DC Super Converters, it works with my Hori HRAP V Hayabusa, even though that stick isn't on the compatibility list.
I did a very rough comparison of input lag with this coupled with the Hayabusa, vs a NEOGEO CD pad--they came out the same, if anything the Super Converter + Hori stick might have been a fraction of a frame faster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zd18MxR-1Co
If I could have them tweak one thing, it would be to let the user either save a custom button mapping, or save their default layout preference; can't save anything with the adapter currently, so maybe it just doesn't have that capability, which is too bad. Not a huge deal though, it just means I have to hit PS + Circle each time to switch to my preferred layout (which is Type B, not Type C as is for some reason shown in focusattack's diagram).
