EPILOGUE gathers fantastic artists from across the Middle East, and showcases original works drawn from both their international influences and their own cultures.

The Middle East is not often regarded as a source of renaissance, often mired in controversy and conflict when depicted in news reports.  This often overlooks the incredible talents of artists that happen to live in this region, which is partly the motivation for this 136 page window into the whimsical and wondrous visual spectacle that such artists can create.

    An Opportunity to Shine

The foreword explains the creators’ motivations for assembling this unique project: “Through this book, we want to showcase the talents the Middle East has to offer and raise awareness regarding our budding community and just how much we’re capable of doing and creating. A small step, perhaps, but one that will hopefully pave the way for the expansion of this industry in our countries.”

Inside you’ll find concept artists, illustrators, 3D artists, painters, and cartoonists from the fields of video games, animation, and film. EPILOGUE is an art gallery in a book, bursting with skill, passion, and dedication. The hardcover tome features over 30 creative men and women, representing several countries including the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria and more.

    1. Exactly What's Advertised

Epilogue collects the work of over two dozen concept artists, and as such, the variety of images means you're more than likely to find several styles that'll appeal to you. For example, I especially enjoy the robot and environmental pieces, but there are also plenty of horror, Anime-inspired, and fantasy pieces I can also enjoy. From photo realistic to cartoony, ruined cities to towers made of houses, each artist is represented through 5-6 images that best capture them.

If you like the artists and have an interest in finding more of their stuff or potentially hiring them, there are short bios outlining their careers and interests, as well as a a segment in the back providing their emails and websites. It doesn't tell you whether they're available for commissions, though, so you will have to investigate that on your own.

My only nitpick is that there are some images that seem as though they weren't scaled to the proper resolution during the printing process, making them seem slightly blurry. It's never enough to legitimately detract from making out any details, and is overall negligible, but still an issue I feel should be pointed out.

I got this book mainly because I'm learning how to draw, and looking at the styles of others helps me to nail down what elements of art I like best what I want to incorporate into my own art style. But even if you're not into making art, it's still a very nice showcase of imagination that's worth the price of admission.
