    GamerFinger products will remain on reserve until further notice. What does that mean?

    Why are we doing this?

    • GamerFinger is a popular item that - as of this writing - is very hard to find. Most customers know of as a US reseller for this product.
    • At the moment, restocks of GamerFinger products is difficult to assess, due to inconsistency in shipping times by the company. Some can take just a week to ship, others can take many weeks even if the product is in stock at their warehouse. While we can usually accomodate other vendors, the inconsistency makes GamerFinger unique as a supplier.
    • We will continue to work with GamerFinger to improve their turnaround time for restock shipments. We are working to purchase enough additional stock to meet the high demand, and work around the inconsistencies.

    This product is not compatible with the OTTO DIY Sanwa JLF Kit. Additionally, the Kowal 1mm Oversize Actuator for Sanwa JLF Series Joystick, or any larger actuator is not compatible with this product. In an optical PCB, there are no switches that benefit from the oversized actuator.  Optical joysticks are optimized for the Sanwa GT-8F 4/8-Way Restrictor PlateSanwa GT Y Octagonal Restrictor Gate or JLF GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Plate Insert.  Gates such as the JLF GT-O Circle Restrictor Plate Insert limit its effectiveness.  Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT Joystick is not included with purchase.

    The original Flash 1 joystick PCB was manufactured and released by Sanwa for arcade machines many years ago as a ambitous alternative to the microswitch.  The idea was to significantly reduce the wear and tear arcade owners often faced in servicing joysticks, replacing the physical microswitches with an optical sensor.  Realizing soon after that this meant Sanwa's most replacable part could would generate much less revenue as a result, the company shelved it. 

    GamerFinger, designer of the popular HBFS mechanical switch pushbutton series, returns with their an innovative optical PCB for the Sanwa JLF-TP-8TY joystick.

    Truly Silent, Compatible, and Precise

    An incredible joystick PCB like this has several benefits over the original TP-MA:

    • The GamerFinger Optical PCB uses an optical sensor.There are no physical moving parts, no wear and tear, and no need for replacement.
    • Estimated life of the PCB is 10 years of daily use.
    • Incredibly precise digital control for the fastest inputs.
    • The PCB easily fits into the same space as your existing 5 pin TP-MA PCB.
    • Its 5-volt conversion is compatible with Playstation 2™, Playstation 3™, Microsoft Xbox360™ and Sega Dreamcast.

    What's Included

    The GamerFinger PCB kit includes the following items:

    • GamerFinger Optical PCB
    • Copper ring. Installed below your Sanwa JLF E-Clip and provides additional tension.
    • Foam pad washer.  Installed into the Sanwa JLF P-2 Main Body and provides stabiilzation between PCB and body during play.
    • 6-pin harness that includes directional inputs, ground (black) plus 5-voltage (red) wiring
    • 5-pin plug. Optional use; should you desire to connect the optical PCB to your existing Sanwa JLF H-5 5 pin harness, you can create a simple adapter plug that welds the optics kit wire with a 5-pin plug.  The voltage wire then connects to the control PCB. Voltage from the control PCB must be at least 3.3 volts. The maximum is 15 volts.

    You can now option bundle and save on our 2lb Tension Spring for Sanwa JLF.

    For additional control, the GamerFinger Optical PCB works with the Sanwa GT Y Octagonal Restrictor Gate, or JLF GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Plate Insert,

    How to install

    The GamerFinger Optical PCB installs easily into the Sanwa JLF joystick body.   To replace the original TP-MA PCB with the GamerFinger Optical PCB:

    1. Remove the plastic square gate by pinching the tabs at each side of the gate inward.  It's usually easiest to pinch two from one side, then pull that side up. 
    2. Remove the small metal "e-clip" located at the bottom of your joystick shaft.
    3. Following that, remove the actuator (located just above the e-clip) and spring.  The TP-MA PCB is a small circuit board with the joystick microswitches attached.
    4. Remove the TPMA switch from the joystick body, then place the GamerFinger Optical PCB into it with the black cover facing out.
    5. Attach the 6-pin harness included with the kit to the 6 pin connector on the GamerFinger Optical PCB.  You can then either solder the signal and ground wire (black) to your joystick PCB's up, down, left and right ports, or connect the wires to the corresponding ports on a solderless PCB such as Toodles Cthulhu Multi-Console PCB or Akishop PS360+ Multi-Console Joystick PCB.
    6. Solder the 5v harness wire (red) to the +5v USB port of the main joystick PCB. The joystick PCB's USB port is usually a red wire or specifically labeled on the PCB.  If using the MC Cthulhu or Akishop PCB, connect it to the unit's VCC port.

    Use and advantage of switchless play

    If you're used to playing with a microswitch-based joystick such as the original Sanwa JLF, converting to a switchless environment requires a bit of adjustment. The most significant difference between the GamerFinger Optical PCB and micro switches is that you no longer hear the click of the microswitch. You'll only hear the faint knock of the joystick gate.  There are benefits during tournament play; in addition to increased directional control, your competitor can no longer hear your movements. Once you get used to the unique feel of the GamerFinger Optical PCB, your gameplay could improve significantly.

    1. The next Sanwa FLASH1!

      If you've ever wanted to experience optical precision like the OG Sanwa FLASH1 or Toodles CE Spark. This is an amazing choice, optical JLFs were the weapon for many old school players looking to reproduce the feeling of American P360 Optical joysticks.

      You can't go wrong with this, truly universal, I pair it with a 2LB spring and Circular / Octo. Gate, you got lots of choices with this bad boy!

      Be aware you'll need to find proper 5V voltage, these are easily found on MC Cthulhus or PS360+. Be sure to see if your stick's PCB has a 5V source, and enjoy that optical smoothness!

    2. Silent and very responsive!

      This optical joystick PCB works fine and smooth. Very comfortable!

    3. Do not try to put on an Otto DIY

      Update from FA: This product was not designed for the OTTO DIY. The review will be temporarily in place but then removed, as the review does not reflect the quality of the product, instead about an incompatibility with an unsupported mod.
      I didn't really get to try it out because I have an Otto DIY kit on my stick instead of the standard Sanwa JLF. It was way too tight and the PCB snapped when I tried to remove it so I can't really say if it's great or not. Just a warning to anybody else out there. Do not I repeat DO NOT try to force this on an Otto DIY kit. Save yourself the broken PCB and switch to a standard JLF before putting it on your case

    4. Get a 2lb spring

      It's works as intended especially with 2lb spring, it can work with the OTTO V5 but will need to polish some areas ask otto on Twitter on Jan 13th 2020

    5. Silent

      I wanted to make as little noise as possible and this helps. I didn't use the 2lb spring as it was too tiff for me stock spring with ring is enough. on Jan 3rd 2020

      I finally got phase 3 of making my Smooth silent lever a combination of: The Sanwa detachable lever with smoothness of Otto Sanwa JLF upgrade and the stealth of Gamer Figure PCB.I don't know if I should solder it or buy the Brook wireless board that's also Nintendo Switch compatible? on Sep 6th 2019

    7. Awesome Product!

      It may take some time for veterans to get accustomed to not having any micro switches which adds to the "feel" and "audible ques" but, veteran or novice, once you get used to it, it's smooth sailing. Very precise input and virtually no lag. It reduces the oppertunity of your opponent listening to your stick to read or predict your moves/attacks. Highly recommend a "octagonal restrictor gate and 2lb spring for better control and stability when using this Product! ☆☆☆☆☆ on May 13th 2019

    8. Silent and Responsive (No Bounce-back!)

      This thing is fantastic. I tried using standard JLF, and Seimitsu LS-32 sticks but each did not complement my playstyle well. When trying to do complex supers like half-circle back forward, or just quickly dashing in I would get bounce-back. After installing this PCB I've done multiple input tests and it suffers no bounce back at all and as an added plus my stick is almost completely silent (I'm also using Gamerfinger buttons). on Apr 26th 2019

    9. Experiences may vary (In a good way

      After some soldering, got the PCB to work with the original TE2+.
      Some issues that I had was I couldn't feel the gate at all with the foam washer, and copper ring added, as it states to install for a stiff feel. For my experience, I took off the copper ring and inputs were still smooth, with the joystick feeling very light to move around.
      Really great product. If you feel interested, suggest you try it out.
