The Crown CWL KMS-ST series, which includes the 309-MJ and 309-Helpme contains a 25A and 35A shore tension silicone grommet. Now, available separately for this model is the ST-35 35A shore grommet, a perfect accessory to add more tension to the 309-MJ, replace the grommet in the Helpme, or upgrade the older model 303 and 307 models.
Compatible with the CWL 303, 307 and 309 series
Crown has evolved their joystick levers over the past few years, releasing iterations of the lever under the 300 series. This grommet, which features a black plastic pivot, is compatible with each of the levers both old and new, such as the 303-N and 303-FK, the 307 series, and more recent Crown CWL-309MJ-KMS-ST25 Joystick or Crown CWL-309Helpme-K-KMS-ST35 Joystick.
To replace the original Crown 300 series grommet:
First lift the battop and shaft from the joystick body. To do this, you must remove the e-clip at bottom of the lever. A mini screwdriver wedged into the e-clip often works, pulling the clip away from the shaft. Be careful not to lose the e-clip, as it can fly off the shaft from the pressure. Lift the shaft upwards and put aside. The actuator may also loosen from the microswitches which is normal - you can put it back on when reinstalling the e-clip.
Second, remove the 4 long screws that hold the mounting plate and upper body in place. Remove the original grommet from its housing by pulling on the plastic ring with your thumb and fingers.
Now, install the new grommet by placing it in the joystick lever housing. Line up the grommet in the same orientation as the original grommet. You should see the circular rings impressions on the grommet. If you don't, you need to flip the grommet over.
Once installed, place the upper housing onto the bottom housing, and replace the long screws into the metal plate.
The stock 309MJ is well suited for an easy transition from light Japanese levers to heavier Korean ones. ST-25 feels heavier than Sanwa but not too much and you will be able to readjust pretty quickly. However, overtime you might feel that ST-25 is not perfect for quick neutrals if you have a loosier grip and you do not control your lever all the way. That`s when ST-35 is needed. It is a perfect balance for 309 series, quick enough neutrals but not too heavy to handle.
However, if you prefer heavier tension look at the ST-45.Janus

Perfect tension, how the 309 should come stock
309MJ was my first Korean stick, I bought the ST-35 grommet along with it. Installed the ST-35 immediately, didn't bother with the stock rated 25 it came with.
I was satisfied from first touch, I would like to think the 309MJ came with this level of tension stock. I recommend the ST-35 grommet to anyone looking to buy the 309MJ and get into Korean sticks!Unknown

Perfect amount of tension for the 309-MJ
If you're looking to add some extra tension to your Crown 309-MJ, look no further than the ST-35.
The difference in feel and throw range is great once you install the ST-35. It doesn't feel too tough or overbearing like the ST-45 and it's a pretty easy install once you understand how to pull apart the top half of the joystick lever as the part is a simple drop in replacement for the original grommet that is in there already.Johnny W.

Goldilocks tension zone
Tension is perfect. Not too soft, not too stiff. Great upgrade for my 309mj which comes with 25g grommet. I was getting sloppy inputs when doing P1 wavedash, but with the increased tension I can do it much more cleanly.Unknown
