The 2lb tension spring for Sanwa JLF replaces the existing spring found in the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT Joystick, or Sanwa JLF-TPRG-8AYT-SK Silent Microswitch Joystick, adding 1.1lb more force than the original. This results in a stiffer joystick, which is favored amongst some players who don't like the loose feel of the JLF. Using this spring, you no longer have to combine the original with a LS-32 to achieve the same level of tension.
Now you can save 35 cents on the 2lb JLF spring when you bundle it with the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT Joystick, Sanwa JLF-TPRG-8AYT-SK Silent Microswitch Joystick, Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y-SK Joystick (No Plate Installed) or FA Nippon ALU battops. Just choose "Add 2lb JLF Tension Spring" from listing options.
I ended up switching down to this from a 4lb spring. The 4lb just made my hand exhausted after a while. On its own it offers a nice little bump in resistance for people who think the standard spring is just way to soft.
Paired with an aluminum bat top however, the added weight gives the lever a very unique mix of a softer throw while maintaining a quick spring back. Ian on May 6th 2021
I play primarily 80s/90s arcade games via emulation and this spring adds just the right tension for the lever to return to center quick enough for the next move. As mention in another review but not listed in the deception; this does fit the Hori Hayabusa lever properly. Sean in SLC on Mar 11th 2021
I have a hori rap4 didn't like how loose the feeling the base Hayabusa stick so the 2lb weight was the best upgrade for the resistance it was lacking. Andre Gadsden on Oct 31st 2020
Combine this with a metal top, it gives it the perfect balance. I may give the 4lbs tension spring a try in the future for comparison. Unknown on Sep 24th 2020
These springs are perfect.
They're only a little stiffer than the default Sanwa spring, maybe a more noticable change if you're spring is a little old, but this is the ideal level of tension for me. I had thought the 4lb would be ideal but felt really slow for inputs given how much effort they take to move. These are stuff but not slow.
However because these are so close to the default Sanwa springs I feel that after about 3-4 months of heavy play they get pretty close to regular default spring tension and I really notice a difference if I replace them again. It's nice I don't feel like I need to break these in ever, but just know they're best when fresh.
Thankfully they're really affordable so even if you go all out and swap them out every 4 months its only like 5 bucks a year.
Highly recommend this weight. Do yourself a favor and get a few. Mont on Aug 29th 2020
Perfect amount of tension for my big hands. Threw this on a Hayabusa lever along with a Kowal oversized actuator and I'm in heaven. Richard Caldera on Jul 8th 2020
I've felt normal JLFs were a little loose, so I ordered the 2lb spring. There's noticeably more tension, but not to the point where you're thinking about it / working harder to move the stick. If you want a stiffer "feel" without having to muscle the stick around this is a good srping choice. Chuck on Jul 3rd 2020
You notice the difference, especially if you put the spring in yourself for the first time. I will be buying another one for my other sticks. Harrison White on Jun 11th 2020
The tension spring is a great mod to make your arcade stick feel tighter. Unknown on May 4th 2020
fixed my problem of accidental inputs if a release the stick while in position. might even get a stronger spring. good product. Unknown on Apr 29th 2020
