    Product Discontinued 4/28/2024

Sanwa is discontinuing the GTYR8 gate; inventory here will remain until sold out. You can now alternatively purchase the Sanwa GT-8X Square Restrictor Gate and Sanwa GTN-Y Octagonal Restrictor Gate Insert.

Quarter-circle, half-circle and full 360 motions no longer take effort or feel unnatural after installing a Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Gate into your TE or Hori/Sanwa JLF setup.  A full 8 corners allows for smoother and more responsive motions for fireball, dragon-uppercut and spinning piledriver attacks.  Those investing their time in wrestling chars such as Zangief or Shoto chars such as Ryu, Ken, Sakura, Akuma, and Dan(!), deserve to swap out their existing 4-way gate for this one.

The Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Gate is compatible with the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT Joystick and Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y-SK Joystick (No Plate Installed).

    1. It is great

Somehow since I got my first fight stick I switch to a Octogonal gate just as a try out.
Nearly two years after I get used to, and get a new fight stick and I can't perform the same with the Square gate it had.
So I get a new one and the new joystick feels now more familiar to me.

My first octogonal gate was also one of this and still is in perfect conditions.

    2. Most solid Octo gate on the market

The Sanwa GT-Y Octo Gate is my personal favorite Octagonal Gate, I prefer Octo Gates over Squares/Circles so this is a perfect fit for me, it feels nice and there's not many ways that a simple product like this can be messed up. on Jun 4th 2018

    3. Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Gate Review

The Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Gate is ahigh quality part upgrade for my fightstick. I have not had any issues with this item. Very easy installation as well. on May 21st 2018

    4. Excellent Product

I went back and forth between the square gates and octagonal gates, eventually settling on an octagonal gate. I generally use characters with motion controls and, for me, this definitely made executing these motions feel more natural.

That said, it did feel a little odd at first when using this gate with charge characters. I think the square gate feels better with these characters. But just as you can get use to motion characters with a square gate, it's not too difficult to get use to charge characters with an octagonal gate.

Also, Tiger Knee motions were more difficult with the octagonal gate but once you get use to the octagonal gate these become easy as well.

Overall, I really like the product and am happy with how it feels.

    7. Great product to have

This 8-way gate is the best gate you can buy on the market for any sanwa joystick it helps those that play Street Fighter and other games that require 8 way arcade stick I definitely recommend those who are playing Street Fighter or even Mortal Kombat to buy this if they are plane on a qanba or razor stick on Mar 15th 2018

    9. Easy to use and install

    10. Know Your Fightstick

Before you buy a Sanwa gate, make sure you know your fightstick. What I mean is whatever fightstick you have, make sure you open your fightstick and see what kind of restrictor your fightstick is made for. on Feb 14th 2018
