  • Product Description

Please note: You do not need to purchase a separate restrictor gate for this insert. It is designed to work with your Sanwa JLF's existing GT-8F gate. It is not compatible with the Sanwa JLF-TPRG-8AYT-SK Silent Microswitch Joystick, as the restrictor plate does not allow swapping an insert.  You may try purchasing a GT-8F plate for that model however.

The Sanwa GT Y Octagonal Restrictor Plate is one of our most popular products.  Players love the smoother, circular  motions that this product offered.  The actual clear plastic gates themselves, however, are already installed in most Sanwa JLF series joysticks as the Sanwa GT-8F 4/8-Way Restrictor Plate

Every Sanwa JLF-series Joystick, including Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT Joystick or Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y-SK Joystick (No Plate Installed) comes with the Sanwa GT-8F restrictor plate.  This clear plastic plate houses a square-shaped insert that allows for up, down, left, right and diagonal movement.  While effective, it doesn't feel as natural when attempting to perform quarter-circle, half-circle, or full-circle (360-degree) motions.  These motions are common in most fighting games, which a square gate cannot reproduce easily.  The translucent yellow insert, which contains the octagonal guide, is the most important part.  If you already own the GT-8F restrictor plate on every Sanwa JLF, buying another just for the GT-Y insert seems like a wasted purchase.

The clear GT-Y insert we offer is molded with the exact same specifications as the yellow insert available in the official Sanwa GT-Y, and works just as well.  Hadoken, Shoryuken and Spinning Piledriver attacks are fluid and easy to perform.

    A fantastic deal!

Now, with Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT Joystick or Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y-SK Joystick (No Plate Installed) purchase, you can option bundle the GT-Y insert for just 45 cents!

    1. Good gate hard to provide solid rating

I recently replaced my square gate insert on my old hori mvc stick jlf with this octo gate Insert the range of motion is nice but does not have responsiveness the square gate had never changed the actuator that could be a factor but I began to appreciate the square gate more tried hayabusa stick and now feel hayabusa is far superior to jlf and it was the octo that lead me down that road lol on Sep 11th 2016

    2. Great product

This is what i needed I really like octagonal gates and this works great. on Aug 25th 2016

    3. great product but..

this fits my MADCATZ TE2 perfectly. QCF &"Z" motions are easier to pull off but my movement is really restricted on the corners only 6%. i'v watched YT videos on restricter plate movement percentage but i wanted to try it out either way. depending on what kind of character you play this might or might not workout for you. i play charge characters so this plate did work out for me. maybe with command characters this would work on Jul 4th 2016

    4. Stellar Product!

Very simple install with this product and does exactly what it is advertised to do! on Apr 28th 2016

    5. Great product

Simple to install, cheap, and I feel it helped with my execution. on Mar 24th 2016

    6. Struggling with a square gate? This might be your answer!

I'm a new fightstick user, and I finally got use to playing with a square gate, but my execution wasn't consistent, especially in high pressure situations. After using this inexpensive and easy-to-install, 8-way gate insert, but execution has vastly improved. I cannot say it will do the same for you, but if you're having trouble performing quarter/half circle motions consistently, give this a try.

Like what Mike Harris said in a previous review, you can still play a charge character using this 8-way gate, although, I did find it easier playing them using a square gate, so I guess it depends what characters you use in your chosen fighting game.

      Highly recommended!

    7. The best work around for whole octagonal gate!

Ok then the title says it all the best work around it seem like the comming of 5 means most popular hardware for fightsticks are on back order. The information given for modding fightsticks is plentiful so do your research and you will find this wonderful cheap product that will help you mod and bring your game up to proper levels. All I can say is this works and easy to install it's not a gold color but you can't see it once it is installed but you can feel it.My execution is significantly increased over the stock square gate that came with my TE2+ ps4 so dont miss out and order more then one not because they fail but because you will want this product in all of your fightsticks. And once fighters all over the world learn how easy these are to install this item will be on back order as well. So order install and be amazed and for Gods sake rise up and fight I am better then I was with a square gate order this and get the execution without the cost and backorder problems! on Mar 5th 2016

    8. Awesome for Shoto characters and just in general

The octagonal gate was a breeze to install on my MadCatz TE 2 fightstick. It works as designed and I've gotten much better at throwing fireballs and doing other quarter circle moves. You can feel the octo points on the gate and I like it more than square gates where I felt like I was being blocked from completing movements. I highly recommend this even if you're just starting out with an arcade stick. Regardless of what people say you can still use charge type characters with this gate. Enjoy the freedom of movement! on Mar 2nd 2016

Excellent and cheap, don't exist any issue while the installation, easy to change and accurate fix. on Dec 14th 2015

    10. Perfect replacement for old 4/8 gate

LOVE this insert! Its a perfect and easy way to transform the 4/8 gate into the far more flexible octagon. on Oct 30th 2015
