Those looking for further ways to accessorize your fightstick, opting to match colors across buttons and joystick lever, didn't have many options when it came to the joystick shaft.
Until now.
The Sanwa JLF Aluminum Extended Joystick shaft comes in several anodized colors, and adds 10mm (.39") length over the stock 68mm shaft (from base to threading). This shaft was designed to assist installing your Sanwa JLF joystick lever into a maximum 3/4" (18mm) MDF wooden control panel. It is compatible with joysticks from the Sanwa JLF series, including TP-8YT, TP-8YT-SK, TPRG-AYT-SK, and TPRG-8BYT-SK.
The aluminum shaft matches the threading found in the stock JLF shaft. This means that nearly all balltop and battop accessories that currently fit the standard JLF series shaft are compatible. Exceptions include all Sanwa JLF-CD Shaft & Dustwasher Set models, since the shaft is longer than the standard model, and the dustwasher conforms to the shaft. Instead, please consider Solo Sanwa JLF Dustwasher - Fits Sanwa JLF without Shaft Cover (Set of 2) when purchasing this shaft.
The Hori Hayabusa Joystick has remained popular partly due to its interchangeability with Sanwa JLF compatible components such as springs and actuator. Of them, you can also install this shaft. Our support contact Joey Wainwright shows you how to install the shaft in this article.
An advantage to aluminum is its low weight. With an equally lightweight balltop, you may find that an existing Sanwa or Seimitsu spring allows for proper return to center without bounceback.
If you have large hands, I highly recommend this for your stick. It works well with regular sized and large balltops. HryWteTheFuture on Jul 24th 2020
Im new to arcade sticks and still trying to find my grip but one thing is for sure, a balltop on a normal JLF shaft feels cramped for my ring finger and pinky. This extended shaft is WAY more comfortable and looks really nice. Possibly pairing this with a bigger actuator will feel like a whole new lever and one of the most comfortable. Also hot pink is super nice looking! Chris on Jan 24th 2020
