I've never bought these springs to replace existing springs.
I buy them to increase tension of the springs because I think all the stock spring tensions (JLF/Hayabusa spring, LS-32/LS-40 spring) are too low.
I don't know what the spring tension of an LS-32 is but I know it's lower than the replacement 2-lb spring tensions which are TOO HIGH in my humble opinion.
What I get when I cut these extra LS-32 springs in half and wind those halves is enough tension for me. It's not a lot but it's more than stock. I figure it's somewhere between 15-20% higher tension than stock but it's nowhere near 50% more tension. You really don't want a high tension (2-lb or more) joystick because then it makes doing diagonal moves a lot harder. There's a reason you DON'T USE grommet-tension joysticks to play Japanese fighting games that aren't Tekken, people!
I've experimented with wrapping whole LS-32 springs around another LS-32 or Sanwa stock spring and that hasn't worked out well or better than screwing on two halves of a cut LS-32 spring. One half of an LS-32 spring around an intact, existing spring seems to work for me.
Why I use LS-32s to raise the tension is because they're stock and they'll fit either the LS-32 spring (native to the LS-32/-40, also fits the Zippyy clone for the LS-32) or the JLF/Hayabusa spring (although I don't use any JLF's at present). GeorgeC on Nov 24th 2021
Works great, just the right amount of tension for 2D fighters. Zac on Oct 6th 2020
Bought this to replace the stock spring for my Hori Hayabusa lever and it has been great.
The Hayabusa's stock spring is approx. 0.8lbs of tension and this one is 1.3lbs so it might take a couple days to get used to the tension difference. Unknown on Jun 22nd 2018
Bought it for my Hayabusa lever as I couldn't get the exact tension I wanted by stretching the stock spring. The LS32 spring definitely sits in a very good spot for me now.
The LS32 spring has an approximate tension stiffness of 1.3lbs.
Overall, there's really nothing to say about a spring other than what it should do. Satisfied with the outcome is what I'm saying. Ben.T on Dec 23rd 2017
