  • Product Description

Taiwanese company Brook - designers of the popular family of Super Converters and one of the first manufacturers whose converters managed to gain tentative acceptance by EVO - returns with the a new solution. The Gen 5X is a robust, solder-less PCBA that works with the latest gen USB connected consoles to date.

PS5, Xbox Series X\S, Switch, PC Compatibility

Brook now offers native PS5 compatibility, opening the Gen 5X to support more than just PS5 fighting games that offer PS4 Legacy Controller support. Play your favorite arcade-style games, shmups and other games on Playstation 5.

The Gen 5-X features native compatibility with the following consoles:

    • Playstation 5 Native (Auto Detect)
    • XBOX SERIES X|S (Auto Detect)
    • Nintendo Switch (Auto Detect)
    • PC (XInput)

    Additional Features

    • Console interface modes for manually switching between each console. Will save last selected console in memory.
    • SOCD Cleaner in four modes. This feature removes Simultaneous Opposite Cardinal Directions, so button only controllers cannot register two opposite directions at the same time (ie: down + up). This is now required for Capcom Pro Tour compliance. Your chosen mode is saved in memory until you change it.
    • Joystick lever mapping to Left Analog Stick, Right Analog Stick, and Digital Pad (LS, DP, RS)
    • Turbo function (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 inputs per second) assignable to Square、Triangle、Cross、Circle、R1、L1、R2、L2、R3、L3
    • Touchpad emulation via Touchpad key + Joystick lever direction combo.
    • Compatible with WS2812B RGB LEDs and requires a daisy-chaining connection. Upon power-up, the RGB LEDs will light up each button in sequence in a marquee style. The lighting sequence will follow the order of the daisy-chained RGB LEDs. Different effects via Function button and main action buttons (P1, P2, P3)
    • Tournament Lock Mode: Disables Start/Option button to avoid accidental pressing during a tournament
    • OLED display module support. Requires OLED display currenlty not sold by FA - see User Guide under "Support" tab (on mobile, scroll to "Support" section) for details and specifications.
    • Firmware upgradeable system via USB connection.  Please see "Support" tab for links to latest firmware and additional wiring information.
    • XINPUT Mode for PC
    • Screw terminal for solder-less connections.
    • 20 pin (2x10) housing for future expansion or connection to other PCBA.
    • USB B port for attaching 18 Inch Male A-B USB 2.0 Cable to Neutrik NAUSB connector, then 10 Foot Male A-B USB 2.0 Cable to console.

    What's Included

The Gen-5X Fighting Board is wrapped in a padded static-free pouch, and encased in a protective, professionally-designed box.  Software support is available for download from Brook's website.

If you were considering replacing your existing FightStick PCBA or building a custom joystick of your own, the Brook Gen 5X Fighting Board is one of the best ways to prepare you for the next tournament, no matter which modern console you're playing on.

    Tournament Acceptance

As of now, the Brook Super Converter and Wingman series are allowed by EVO, one of the most popular global tournament events.  Often EVO's policies are adopted at smaller tournaments. This policy is a tentative acceptance - should the converter become disabled via Sony firmware update before EVO, it could face a ban.  You can learn more about it herenew-window-icon.png

    Support

    Firmware

Firmware updates, plus update guide for the Universal Fighting Board are available via Brook's website.

Occasionally Sony's firmware updates have disabled Brook's PS5 support.  Brook is quick to update their firmware to address it.  If you are purchasing for the first time, it is always worthwhile to check that you have the latest firmware installed for the device.
