"Kinu" in Japanese means "silk" - an appropriate name for this KDiT's latest offering given it novel appearance. However, it's the feel that is most enticing.
As a 35mm balltop with a M6 threading, the Kinu is compatible with most Sanwa and Seimitsu joystick shafts, along with Hori Hayabusa and DX flavors of Crown/Samducksa. A soft, grippy resin gives the feeling of rubber, without the concerns of allergic reactions caused by latex or natural rubber. The matte coating helps to diffuse light evenly across its surface, and contributes to its tactile appeal.
I'd been using an aluminum battop for a year because I could never get a decent grip with the stock balltop. I still like the battop, but I decided to take a chance on this because the yellow matches my scheme and I thought maybe the rubber would make a difference. It did. I don't find the balltop spinning in my hand like the old hard plastic one, so I can use it just as well as the battop. Starman on May 26th 2021
Normally, I'm not as crazy about 35mm handles.
I like the off-standard sizes like the 38mm Wico handles or at least the 35mm ball handles with some color or differences (mesh pattern, bubbles) other than just being solid color.
Then there's this one.
It feels like the inside of a latex glove or anything that's been coated in baby powder. That's the closest I can describe it.
You can pinch it a little bit but it holds its shape.
I like this particular shade of yellow. It has a bit more orange to it so it's a bit darker than the Sanwa yellow buttons it still complements them well. I definitely would rather have this ball handle screwed onto my control lever than my old 35mm Sanwa balltop!
We'll see how durable it is over time but I like the way it feels and looks already. GeorgeC on Nov 19th 2020
Love it. It gives off the same feeling you get from a rubber coated joystick on a controller, only now applied to a balltop. There's an added grip feel to it if you've ever felt like your hand slips on traditional tops. Its always nice to have the option. Big Zam on Sep 21st 2020
So far, I'm liking this balltop. I normally use a grip that cups/hooks my fingers under the balltop as my fingers would slip if I only use my finger tips. With the rubber coated balltop, I can more confidently use a different grip so as not to restrict my range of motion. Despite the grip, it's still really smooth too! Unknown on Sep 10th 2020
