Cherry is now rebranded to ZF. The ZF switch is supposed to remain the same construction and characteristics as Cherry D44x, only new branding on the physical microswitch. Our inventory may contain a mix of the two brands over the next few months and we are not separating them. We will not honor requests to send only Cherry switches, nor return requests to swap for Cherry. If you want Cherry-brand microswitches, please find another retail store that might have those older units on hand, as they are no longer manufactured. More information
D44X 75g microswitch harkens back to the day of older arcade cabinet controls, and are considered highly desirable for the nostalgic feel of those cabinets. Today, the 75g actuation force gives it a noticable feedback during play, in additon to a soft but audible click.
Actuation force refers to how much force it takes to actuate the switch. For example, 125 grams takes noticably more force to actuate, versus 75 grams or 50 grams. This may work to your preferences and playstyle. At 75g, the acutation is light and responsive.
The .187" connector is often used with joysticks from Suzo Happ and Industrias Lorenzo. It is uncommon for modern imported joysticks, such as the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT Joystick, but can be used in joysticks that are able to accept it as a separate install, such as Hori Hayabusa Joystick.
You can also use them as an alternative switch to arcade pushbuttons that utilize a .187" microswitch, such as long barrel types produced by Suzo Happ.
You need to buy the E-switches for IL/Industrias Lorenzo joysticks for your stick to be competition-worthy, not these. You will miss inputs with these on your Eurostick. The D44X's work well for buttons, it's just the stick themselves (up, down, left, right, diagonals) that do not cope well with the activation range of the actual switch on these. Perfect switch for my Happ buttons Unknown on Feb 21st 2021
The content on my 2-player MAME cab is focused on fighting games and brawlers, but the stock switches that came with my HAPP sticks and concave buttons simply weren't cutting it: diagonals and quarter-circle motions were registering ~50 of the time, which was simply not acceptable.
I replaced the stock switches with these, and, man, the difference is staggering: I can now do dragon punches, forward/backward jumps, etc. with 100% success. These switches are absolutely worth the little bit of money--they took my MAME cab from being a hobby curiosity to a full-fledged addiction b/c it's such a joy to play my favorite fighting games now. Installed these cherries in my 4-player cabinet, replacing old cherries for both joysticks and buttons. Everything works nice and smooth now. Delivery was extremely efficient as well. Unknown on May 8th 2020

Just installed in my new setup. Seem great so far! Nice clicky feel to them. James B on Dec 3rd 2019
Just purchased a set of cherry micro switches and suzo happy competition buttons to replace my stock old happ ones for my upright arcade. Best upgrade I've done to my arcade yet. They fit perfect and work great with all my fighting games. Was waiting a long time for competition style buttons that fit, finally got my wish! Sean L on Nov 6th 2019
I purchased some Happ-style buttons elsewhere online that came with red/black Lee branded microswitches. Those switches were horrible and not every button had the same resistance or click. Some were very hard to press.
These Cherry D44X switches are a terrific upgrade. The Cherry's all feel the same and the pressure needed for each button is much softer compared to the cheap Lee switches.
I will buy the Cherry switches again for my next bartop or arcade stick project. JK on May 29th 2018
