"Kinu" in Japanese means "silk" - an appropriate name for this KDiT's latest offering given it novel appearance. However, it's the feel that is most enticing.
As a 35mm balltop with a M6 threading, the Kinu is compatible with most Sanwa and Seimitsu joystick shafts, along with Hori Hayabusa and DX flavors of Crown/Samducksa. A soft, grippy resin gives the feeling of rubber, without the concerns of allergic reactions caused by latex or natural rubber. The matte coating helps to diffuse light evenly across its surface, and contributes to its tactile appeal.
Compared to the standard polished balltops that come with most Japanese arcade sticks this one is lighter and has more grip. Doing inputs that require faster motions feel a little easier and less likely to slip out of your hands. Easy recommendation for those who feel like their standard ball tops are weighing them down or just want something with a different feel compared to the standard ball top. Hiram on Oct 28th 2024
I'm changing all my ball tops with these Kinu ball tops. I live in AZ so it's dry as hell out here. My hands get dry and slip when I playing games. The extra grip is much needed. Unknown on Sep 22nd 2024
I don't know why matte finish balltops aren't the standard. The way I hold the stick definitely is improved by this less slick surface, plus it just looks nicer. Unknown on Dec 15th 2021
This thing is a worthwhile upgrade. It is just enough grip without being to grippy. Unknown on Feb 2nd 2021
I like the matte finish, it's smooth and gives added grip. I was originally worried the rubber texture was not going to allow my hand to smoothly slide across it but that's not an issue. The only complaint is how easily the surface can be scratched. SENTAR on Sep 24th 2020
This isn't a complicated product, it's a ball top.
That said, I love it. The texture on it adds to the experience of using it, I prefer it to both the usual plastic ball top and the aluminum ones. oilypenguin on Sep 10th 2020
