Plexworks Production Status: Setting Expectations for Custom Orders

Custom orders placed under our FA Plexworks banner consist of personalized artwork print/cut, acrylic reproduction panels, BNB Fightstick kits, and more. 

Though we ask for 7-10 business days to process a custom order, some customers may wonder roughly  many days may pass before we can start their order in the queue. The Plexworks Production Status indicator can help you understand where an order placed today may appear in our queue, and when we can get started.

Capacity and Estimated Days in Queue

Let's look at what each portion of data means for you:

  • Capacity: Over the last 30 days, we look at the average quantity of of custom orders that have shipped versus active orders. A higher capacity means we're better able to manage the orders as they come in. 
  • Estimated Days In Queue: Based on the quantity of oustanding custom orders, and our capcacity percentage, how many days may pass before we begin your order in the queue. 

It's important to understand that these are estimated days in queue, which may increase or decrease depending on the complexity of what's in the order queue.

A Look Inside the Production Phase

When a custom order is placed, they often require more time due to multiple processes involved. We'll use artwork for this example. These processes can involve the following:

  1. Reviewing the artwork file, ensuring that it is print ready.
  2. Processing the artwork file so that elements such as the customer-facing template is hidden.
  3. Sendng the artwork to our internal templates for the printer.
  4. Moving the print file to production:
    1. Printing the artwork
    2. Any processes that require the artwork to sit (drying, setting)
    3. Die-cutting it to shape
    4. Packing it for shipping, or sending to fulfillment staff to process the rest of the order.

While these steps explain what is done for artwork, plexi cut, vinyl print/cut or direct print all have their own unique steps that can add or remove time to complete a custom order.
