Sanwa is an undisputed leader in the Japanese arcade market, but that doesn't mean the company isn't inspired by community-born modifications to their celebrated joystick levers. Today, the company asks you to do just that - mod to your heart's content - with a selection of color-coded performance enhancers.
Sanwa GTN-B Square Mod Type II Restrictor Gate Insert is designed for the Sanwa GT-8X Square Restrictor Gate and provides a unique feel when performing 360 motions, as its top and bottom side are curved slightly, and its left and right sides have defined spaces for charge attacks.
This part will fit the following models
Sanwa's original restrictor plate - the GT-8F 4/8-Way Restrictor Plate - is not compatible with the newer GTN-VI, GTN-Y, GTN-B and GTN-R inserts.
For those who would like to replace their original guide on the Sanwa JLF-TPRG-8BYT-SK Higher Tension Silent Microswitch Joystick, the contact of the lead switch may shift due to the impact when the guide plate is attached, and it may not operate normally. You may want to avoid the guide tips part of the mod for that model.
The JL-C-ALL kit and associated parts was designed for authentic Sanwa JLF models. We're unable to speak for all Sanwa JLF clones on the market, or "knock-off" models that are pre-built into lower-cost Fightsticks, nor cheaper Zippy models.
Guide Tips are inserts for the Sanwa GT-8F 4/8-Way Restrictor Plate that comes with your JLF. Each guide is color-coded and designed to provide a unique enhancement to lever travel, from the tried-and-true octagonal control of the yellow GTN-Y to the hybrid rounded square of the GTN-B.
Been using Sanwa Square gates for many years and I think they're great but there are times I would accidentally jump when performing qcf or dp inputs since there's no physical feedback on the left and right position of your joystick and I'm not the biggest fan of octo-gates in general. That all comes to an end when I tried this new insert Sanwa released with their JLX sticks and its my new favorite mod for this old faithful of an arcade stick. The little grooves at the 4 and 6 position really cut down on those accidental inputs and the top and bottom horizontal edges are ever so slightly rounded making circular motions in a square gate feel smoother. Those qcf x2, hcf, and dp motions never felt better. Recommended to anyone wanting to spice up their Sanwa JLF/JLX work horse. Hiram on Feb 6th 2024
It looks good but I made a mistake and ordered the one that doesn't work for me so I can't use it. Pablo on Feb 10th 2023
